Fresh bug-fix for Outpost Firewall Pro and Outpost Security Suite Pro 2008

Outpost Firewall Pro and Outpost Security Suite Pro 2008 go hand in glove in their continued improvement. As you remember, the hot-fix based on the final release picture appeared just two days after the product launch - on October 24, 2007. One more followed on November 2 and the latest was uploaded just yesterday.

The corrections to the standalone product were also applied to the all-in-one solution as usual.

Here's the list of resolved problems, just to mention a few:

  • Outpost monitor and Outpost Feedback were not registered in startup entries
  • Outpost Security Suite could block installation of services
  • Information about crashes could not be sent to Agnitum
  • Error 14001 during installation
  • Rules were applied incorrectly in some cases
  • Address macros could be incorrectly resolved in rules
  • Error while importing LAN settings from Outpost Firewall 4.0
  • Monitor could freeze on uninstalling Outpost Security Suite
  • Web pages content could be blocked/corrupted (GZIP decoding issue)

You can view the entire history of changes at http://www.agnitum.com/products/security-suite/history.php or http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost/history.php depending on the product.

Don't hesitate to download either OSS or OFP and check the difference.

After installing then rebooting, I still get the blue screen of death on Vista 32bit no matter how many times I reboot. At least I was able to boot up to the Vista screen on this build but it looks like once the network icon appears on the tray, the blue screen of death appears. Basically, I have to boot up in safe mode or using "last known good configuration" to completely boot up. I already have a ticket open for the same problem on the previous build. Looks like I have to completely re-install Vista to get Outpost to install. I will do that when Vista SP1 is officially released so I will be trying newer builds until then.

If you don't want Outpost interface to be shown every time your computer starts, I recommend you to select "Background Mode" in Outpost autostart options. If this doesn’t help, please contact Support (http://www.agnitum.com/support/contact.php).

Previous versions of OFP didn't show the gui after system start and, as you should know, Background mode is not the same of a "real" mode as is for the protection.

MY RESPONSE:
Igor, do you 'realize' how ridiculous and embarrassing your answer is to all of us outpost firewall users?? 'Use background mode' to solve the problem when you know the protection isn't the same??! HOW 'HARD' IS IT FOR YOU TO FIX THIS 'LITTLE' 'TINY' PROBLEM COMPARED TO MUCH BIGGER ISSUES YOU'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH??? DO YOU REALIZE THAT 99.99% OF OTHER SOFTWARE PROGRAMS ARE SET TO 'NOT' OPEN AUTOMATICALLY AND THAT THE ICONS GO TO THE TRAY SO THAT WHEN YOU WANT TO OPEN THE PROGRAM, YOU JUST 'CLICK' THE ICON TO OPEN???? NOT A VERY HARD THING TO FIX I'M SURE OF IT!! WE ALL NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE IN THE PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF OUTPOST FIREWALL PRO??? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?? WHO DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ONE???!! FIX IT!!! (EMBARRASSING FOR AGNITUM!!)

Please note that this procedure doen't work with windows XP! I followed your directions and it doesn't work. BOTTOM LINE, Agnitum will 'have' to fix this problem as soon as they find the 'energy' and 'ambition' to do so!!

Actually... I think the problem isn't with Agnitum.. (GUI showing at startup).

Are you using any software for dual-monitors or desktop-switching?

If so, try disabling that.. I've seen that issue before.

working round the clock to ensure that all our customers get a fully-stabilized product as quickly as possible ... what are you, microsoft?

it's only my opinion but this is supposed to happen -BEFORE- a product is released.

I installed new version Outpost Security Suite and Outpost Firewall Pro (6.0.2220.223.446.277) in WinXP.
Both of them had the same problem, main program (acs.exe) were used all memory.
The process used all memory, but old version (2175.214.430.270) didn't have this kind problem.
