Spyware/adware signatures databases update fixed

According to our internal statistics, about 10% of Outpost users have encountered a problem with Outpost Firewall Pro attempting to update its spyware/adware signatures databases. The major reason for the update failure is that a number of ISPs have had no access to the Agnitum's update server since September 19, 2011. We have already fixed it and bring our apologies to all of those who had faced this issue.

Best regards,
Natalia Solovyeva

Hi guys

Please do not think that I'm being to pushy here; but I cannot wait for Outpost 8. What are your plans for OSS 8? Is there a sandbox in the works?

Thanks.

We are not ready to disclose the plans for Outpost 8.0 at the moment.

You'll learn about new and revised features about the end of winter 2012.

But we still plan to issue some minor releases (or even major) between 7.5.1 and 8.0.

I wish to comment to Anonymous (9/26/2011 11:42:00 PM) about a "sandbox". You need to define what you mean by a "sand box" for us. Yet, for the sake of posting, I am going to assume that you are referring to a Norman or Avasti type "sandbox" which is a virtual environment for the AV to analyze and trap a virus. Well, 7.5 has one! :-) However it is called a Controllable Emulator
"This technology is able to combat certain special, hard-to-detect malware with a "fluctuating" signature. The new Controllable Emulator analyzes every executable and compressed file in emulation mode, which imitates in a controlled environment the memory and OS status of the PC as far as possible. This results in improved scanning speeds and lower resource consumption, up to 20% for certain file types (executable files, scripts, and compressed executable in ZIP/ARJ archives)." ~7.5 Info. Paper. The idea of a Sandbox or Emulator is to assist in zero-day attacks, signature creation can't keep up so the "sandbox" concept was developed to look for suspicious code.
Keep up the good work Agnitum team, its a dangerous world.
