Outpost's 9 VB100 certificates in a row

Virus Bulletin magazine has issued the report with VB100 October certification results - now for 44 products running on Windows Server 2003 R2. It was the 4th  VB100 test for Outpost's Anti-malware on the Server 2003 R2, but only the 1st test for Outpost 7.5 - Performance Edition.

Outpost Security Suite Pro (with its current version 7.5.1) has achieved 100% detection on the Wild-List and Polymorphic viruses collections.

As you know, VB100 award is given when the product has no false positives shown on the clean set with about 500,000 clean files weighting around 140 Gb. Outpost's Anti-Malware engine in 7.5.1 version haven't done any mistakes.

As the result, 33 out of 44 products were certified this time, not including Comodo's Antivirus, Emsisoft Anti-Malware, Comodo and Rising Internet Security. Check the full table >>

Generally speaking, Outpost Security Suite Pro is the one 1 of 9 products still having a row of 9+ VB100 certifications on different Windows versions.

NB! Outpost Pro's product license lets you to secure both personal and server Windows on the same price.

Take care,
Vitaliy Yanko

It is good indeed to hear of the pretty consistent VB100 ratings for Outpost Security Suite. However, I do wish that Agnitum would ensure that OSS gets tested and reviewed also by the other security software comparison sites that regularly issue comparative reports of the major security suites.

Until that happens, I would not feel confident in moving from Outpost Firewall (very good indeed), with its anti-spyware functionality disabled, and Avira Antivir Premium, to Outpost Security Suite Pro. I note too that there are various adverse or at least rather suspicious comments in various online reviews of OSS, that it is not being included on the main comparison sites apart from VB100.

It would be helpful if Agnitum would do what it can to rectify that deficiency and thus give us further reassurance about the quality of its antivirus / anti-malware functions.

Philip, thank you for sharing your feelings.

Only 10-15 vendors compete in the very narrow field you've mentioned - in 2-3 German-speaking labs and 4-5 UK and US-based centers. VB100 is well-targeted and the most known AV award around the world.

By the way, most of AV vendors do not spend their time and budgets to certify their products in the test labs other than Virus Bulletin and some governmental authorities certification centers.

We do not want to miss our time, that's the answer. Try Outpost's Suite, that's the suggestion.

A nice review to share. I personally however that 7.5 is the best out there at the moment!

Quote from that site:
1. When you clicked "scan for malware" from the tray icon, it is not only the malware scanner window that will open, but also it opens the program's main UI.
2. You cannot close the main UI of Outpost when the on-demand malware scanner window is opened, unless you choose to run a background scan while the scanner is already scanning the computer. The main UI won't close even if you paused the scanner and minimized the scanner window.
3. When you select the "background" button to run the scan in the background or minimized, the program's UI continues to display on the desktop screen. The UI should not appear together with the malware scanner window and if it's required for some reasons, it should close as well when the user selected to run the scan in the background.
These are very annoying!
